Visit the Île Verte Lighthouse, the oldest in Québec; spend the night in the Pot à l’Eau-de-Vie Lighthouse on an island in the middle of the St. Lawrence; and climb the 128 steps to the top of the Pointe-au-Père Lighthouse, which witnessed the sinking of the Empress of Ireland in 1914.

Fourteen lighthouses are found on the Gaspé Peninsula, including Cap-des-Rosiers, the tallest in Canada; La Martre, which has a unique wooden structure; and Pointe-à-la-Renommée, which sits on the site of the first maritime radio station in North America.

Six lighthouses dot the coasts of the archipelago, four of which are accessible to visitors. The other two are located on Brion Island and Rocher aux Oiseaux (Bird Rock), both of which are bird sanctuaries. Only the lighthouse on Rocher aux Oiseaux is still in operation.
