Since 1997, Nature Aventure has offered guided and self-guided outdoor activities on several rivers in the Matapédia-et-Les-Plateaux area in Gaspésie as well as in northern New Brunswick.

World-renowned salmon rivers such as the Restigouche and the Matapédia are perfect for whitewater activities such as canoeing, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). The company also offers a snorkelling activity to observe Atlantic salmon.

  • Canoeing and kayaking (2 hours to 5 days), including equipment and transportation:
    • 8 km (5 mi.) or 10 km (6 mi.): 2 h to 3 h on the Matapédia or Restigouche River
    • Tide Head: 4 h on the Restigouche River
    • 20 km (12 mi.) or 24 km (15 mi.): 6 h to 8 h on the Matapédia or Restigouche River
    • 43 km (27 mi.) to 66 km (41 mi.): 2 days (1 night)  on the Restigouche, Patapédia or Upsalquitch River
    • 85 km (53 mi.) to 100 km (62 mi.): 3 days (2 nights) on the Restigouche, Patapédia or Upsalquitch River
    • 100 km (62 mi.) to 132 km (82 mi.): 4 days (3 nights) on the Restigouche and Kedgwick rivers
    • 132 km (82 mi.) to 160 km (99 mi.): 5 days (4 nights) on the Restigouche and Kedgwick rivers
  • Stand-up paddleboarding (1.5 hours to 6 hours), including equipment and transportation:
    • 8 km (5 mi.): 1.5 h to 2 h on the Matapédia River
    • 10 km (6 mi.): 2 h on the Restigouche River
    • 14 km (9 mi.): 3 h to 4 h on the Restigouche River (Tide Head)
    • 24 km (15 mi.): 5 h to 6 h on the Restigouche River
  • Snorkelling with Atlantic salmon, including equipment, guide services, lunch, a snack and transportation:
    • Mouthwatering excursion: 8 h on the Assemetquagan, Matapédia and Moulin River

Nature Aventure also offers hiking (without a guide) on the International Appalachian Trail (IAT-QC). This section of the IAT crosses the region of Gaspésie and was officially recognized as the first long-distance hiking route (GR) in North America in 2015.

  • Hiking (a couple of hours to 5 days), including transportation to the trailhead and accommodations in shelter(s), when applicable:
    • Stroll: 7 to 8 km (4 to 5 mi.) in the Matapédia area
    • Pico Falls: 13 km (8 mi.) from Saint-André-de-Restigouche to Matapédia
    • Sunset (1 night): 16 km (10 mi.) in the Saint-André-de-Restigouche area with an overnight stay in the Corbeau shelter
    • Discovery (2 nights): 33 km (21 mi.) from Saint-André-de-Restigouche to Matapédia with overnight stays in the Corbeau and Turcotte shelters
    • Explorer (3 nights): 54 km (34 mi.) from Sainte-Marguerite to Saint-André-de-Restigouche with overnight stays in the Ruisseau Creux, Quartz and Corbeau shelters
    • Expedition (4 nights): 69 km (43 mi.) from Sainte-Marguerite to Matapédia with overnight stays in the Ruisseau Creux, Quartz, Corbeau and Turcotte shelters

Are you looking for somewhere to camp in Matapédia? Nature Aventure also manages the Parc Adams campground, which offers camping and glamping options. The campground is located at the heart of the village of Matapédia, near many services and amenities.

Hiking
Various hiking packages are available for all tastes on the International Appalachian Trail… lasting from a few hours to 5 days!
Lake and River Excursions
Guided canoeing and kayaking excursions will introduce you to the pleasures of paddling on a river. Canoe camping also available. You can also explore the rivers of the Matapédia Valley on a stand-up paddleboard (10 to 24 km / 6 to 15 mi. excursions).
Scuba Diving and Snorkelling
Go snorkelling with or without a guide to observe the king of our rivers: Atlantic salmon. Swim in the current and pools of three rivers wearing a neoprene bodysuit.
