The Percé UNESCO Global Geopark offers geology buffs, adventure lovers and thrill seekers a unique opportunity to discover 500 million years of Earth’s history. This site is a fun and easily accessible way to enjoy the exceptional beauty of Percé and discover the secrets of this area. A multitude of activities await you here.
Tektonik, a fun and immersive multimedia experience that offers an overview of the geological and heritage features of Percé, will introduce visitors to 23 geosites anchored by majestic Percé Rock. Come and listen to the legends whispered by stones for millions of years. You can travel back in time to meet Agathe, a mysterious fortune-teller, while witnessing the spectacular formation of legendary Percé Rock.
A network of 18 km (11 mi.) of hiking trails is available for visitors seeking spectacular views and physical activity. From the Magic Forest to a cave via a crevasse and the surveyors’ trail, see Percé from another angle and observe interesting geological phenomena. Along the way, you can rest on benches and admire the view from various lookouts. Most of the trails are intermediate level. See a map of the trails.
You can also participate in guided hikes with qualified guides to discover 500 million years of Earth’s history. Two different hikes that last about 1.5 hours each are offered to introduce you to the captivating geological history of Percé.
Since June 2017, visitors and hikers can access the geopark’s suspended glass platform. Are you brave enough to venture out above the void? Put your fear of heights to the test and soak up breathtaking views of Percé and the surrounding area! Perched on the side of a cliff at an altitude of 200 metres (660 feet), the platform will appeal to thrill seekers. There is also a space for hikers to sit and rest for a moment while they admire the view.
The Legend of Gluskap is a 12-minute short film telling the fascinating story of Gluskap, a legendary hero and Mi’gmaq deity. The film is screened outdoors every night at 9 p.m. from June to mid-October. On Fridays, the screening is followed by an opportunity to meet a representative of the Mi’gmaq Gespeg First Nation around a campfire.
The indoor playroom with a starry ceiling in the Experiential Pavilion will delight families. Spacious and innovative, this installation offers a large space featuring nets and a floor that resembles the seabed. Come and play, climb and twirl in the coolest indoor playroom in the region!
