Pottery Économusée®
A member of the Économusée® network and the Artisans at Work network, La Maison du Potier is the place to go to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of traditional pottery in the Îles de la Madeleine. This studio and boutique offers visitors an outstanding cultural experience, giving them the opportunity to interact with local artisans and observe them at work. Handcrafted mugs, bowls, vases and many other objects decorated with images characteristic of the archipelago, including boats, colourful houses, clotheslines and dune grass, are displayed in the boutique. Some of the pieces are also made with local clay. A visit to La Maison du Potier guarantees you will find local, handcrafted souvenirs that will forever remind you of your trip to this unique archipelago. You can also order a personalized mug in advance!
La Maison du Potier offers two workshops to deepen your pottery experience. First, you can participate in a ceramics café-style painting workshop, during which you can personalize a piece of bisqueware. If you would prefer to get your hands dirty, try the throwing workshop under the guidance of potter and studio owner Géraldine Cyr. Please book your workshop activities early, as it will take several days to fire your pieces and you will want to make sure they are ready before the end of your visit!
