Our smokehouse economuseum is an invitation to discover the art of smoking, which has been practised by three generations of the Arseneau family on this site. Part of our industrial heritage, smokehouses are the only traditional buildings still in use in the Îles de la Madeleine. Learn about the smokehouses on the Islands from yesterday to today, admire the breathtaking sight of thousands of fish suspended for smoking, and taste products smoked using authentic traditional methods. This 45-minute tour will take you right into the heart of the Fumoir d’Antan smokehouse!

How to get there
The smokehouse is located at 27, chemin du Quai, in the charming village of Havre-aux-Maisons. We are next door to the Pied-de-Vent cheese factory and the Pointe-Basse fishing harbour. A small beach is located next to the parking lot and is a perfect place to go for a swim or enjoy a picnic featuring local products.
