Where to Stay in the Îles de la Madeleine: Lodging for All Tastes!
Are you planning a trip to the Îles de la Madeleine and looking for places to stay? Here are a few suggestions by type of lodging: hotels, cottages and vacation homes, campgrounds and more.
Hotels, etc.
Are you looking for all the comforts of a hotel? You have several options to choose from on the Islands! On Havre Aubert Island, you can stay at the Petit Hôtel de la Montagne, a former general store that now offers 4 tastefully decorated rooms as well as large shared living spaces. Under the same roof, you’ll find the Maison Papier gallery and boutique as well as a coffee counter.
A little further south on the same island, an old schoolhouse has been converted into 4 rooms and 2 apartments. An inspiring and creative place, La réCréation also offers communal gathering spaces and is filled with works of art, making it an ideal venue for artistic retreats as well as a great place to recharge your batteries.
On Cap aux Meules Island, you can stay in one of 120 rooms at Château Madelinot, where you can also enjoy the indoor pool, hot tub and extensive grounds overlooking the sea as well as the Accents resto bistro.
On the same island, you’ll also find the friendly and colourful Motel L’Archipel, which offers 10 units (each with a kitchenette) a stone’s throw from Gros-Cap Beach. You’ll love being lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves!
You can also enjoy a stay in a refined establishment on Havre aux Maisons Island: Domaine du Vieux Couvent. Enjoy a good night’s sleep in one of 11 comfortable rooms with magnificent views of the sea as well as authentic local bistro-style cuisine in this former convent’s dining room.
Cottages and vacation homes
If you’d prefer more privacy, opt for a cottage or vacation home! On Havre aux Maisons Island, Domaine des Vacanciers offers 12 charming and newly renovated cottages that are fully equipped and located very close to Dune du Sud Beach.
Also near the sea but this time on Havre Aubert Island, Navigateur Millerand offers 12 cottages where you can create unforgettable memories. Both the outdoor facilities and the amenities in your cottage will contribute to a relaxing stay.
Still on Havre Aubert Island, just a few minutes up the road, you’ll find Blanche de l’Ouest, a typical island house built in 1917 that’s been meticulously restored to preserve the building’s original details. Stay here to enjoy all the modern comforts in a truly enchanting setting.
Located just up the hill, the Les Rochers architectural home is a beautiful house with a refined design that has won national and international awards. You’ll appreciate the spacious, light-filled and thoughtfully designed spaces that will ensure you have a wonderful vacation on the Islands.
Campgrounds
If you’re an outdoor lover, you may want to camp on Grande Entrée Island at Auberge La Salicorne, which offers 22 campsites with stunning views of the sea! You can also opt for a unique glamping experience in one of their bubble tents (5 with frames and 3 inflatable).
Resorts
Are you looking for a hassle-free vacation? Auberge La Salicorne also offers a wide range of activities for a unique stay on the Islands: hiking, sea kayaking, cave excursions, etc. In addition to tent and bubble camping, you can also stay in one of their 26 rooms with a private bathroom and enjoy delicious seafood in the dining room—all on the same site!
As you can see, you have lots of options on the Îles de la Madeleine—and these are just a few of them! For more suggestions, visit the Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine website. Enjoy your stay on the Islands!
