Sending postcards is probably one of the most common travel traditions! It’s fun to pick out cards for your loved ones to let them know you’re thinking of them and share a piece of your trip with them. Postcards also make great souvenirs of your stay: featuring amazing photos of your destination, they’ll forever remind you of your vacation experiences. Here are 8 photos of landscapes typically found in our regions that would definitely make great postcards!

1. A beach

There’s nothing like a beach photo to remind you of your summer vacation! These seaside landscapes evoke the relaxation and well-being we’re all looking for at this time of year. There are lots of beaches along the St. Lawrence in our regions, including this one near Pointe-aux-Outardes (Côte-Nord), which is perfect for a leisurely stroll as you listen to the sound of the waves!

2. A village

The maritime regions of Québec are brimming with charming and picturesque villages. Whether they’re located inland or by the sea, as in this photo of Le Bic (Bas-Saint-Laurent), they’re great places to discover friendly restaurants, interesting boutiques and artisans’ studios, unique local products and more!

3. A lighthouse

Lighthouses are a must-see during a trip to Eastern Québec, whether they’re open to visitors or just located on sites accessible to the public. Hauntingly beautiful, they add a touch of elegance to the landscape in any season. When you see a lighthouse on a postcard, you’ll immediately want to be transported there! Wouldn’t you like to step into this photo of the Borgot Lighthouse (Îles de la Madeleine) at sunset…?

4. A river

Outdoor enthusiasts love the rivers of our regions for their clear waters and rapids, which make them ideal for canoeing and kayaking. But to really appreciate how they meander through the mountains, nothing beats a photo taken from above, like this one of the Restigouche River as seen from the Horizon de Rêve lookout in the Matapédia Valley (Gaspésie). It’s worth the detour, right?

5. Farmland

Bas-Saint-Laurent is a region of rich agricultural landscapes as well as unique coastal scenery. In many spots, the Kamouraska sector offers a view of both, as in this photo, which would look great on a postcard for a friend with a contemplative nature!

6. A fishing harbour

Depending on when you’re in our regions, a visit to a fishing harbour can be a very lively experience or a time of quiet contemplation. One thing’s for sure, no matter when you’re there, these places are always postcard-worthy! Can you smell the sea when you look at this photo taken in the Îles de la Madeleine?

7. Mountains

Hiking enthusiasts will be delighted by the high mountains in our regions, such as those found in Parc national de la Gaspésie, which you can admire in this photo! Home to 25 peaks over 1000 metres (3300 feet) high, this park has been attracting mountain lovers for decades. And as you can imagine, there’s lots of flora and fauna to discover here too! Makes you want to lace up your hiking boots and set off on an adventure, right?

8. An island

Located in the middle of the Estuary and Gulf of St. Lawrence, the islands in our regions all have a mysterious allure that will pique your curiosity and make you to explore them, whether for a day trip or during a longer stay. Send your loved ones a postcard of one of these islands, such as Île aux Perroquets (Côte-Nord) pictured here, and they’re sure to want to come and visit it!
